What you get
Everything a league night needs
One table for the whole season
Each week is its own game night with its own roster and rounds, and every night's results add into one league table.
Join once, RSVP weekly
Players join the league once, then answer each week's invite. No re-signing up every Monday.
A waitlist that fills itself
When someone drops, the first person on the waitlist is moved in and told their spot opened. You don't text anyone.
Change the format any week
Rotating partners while numbers are big, fixed partners once pairs form. The table carries on regardless.
Scores at the net, standings live
Players enter scores courtside, and standings update as scores go in.
A playoff to finish
Close the season with a playoff seeded from the table, so it ends with a champion.
DUPR when you want it
Players link their DUPR accounts, and the host can submit a DUPR-rated night's matches after play.
Chat that stays with the league
Your club and every game have their own chat, next to the roster instead of buried in a thread.
How it works
From first invite to playoff
Step 1
Create the league
In the Pikel app, open Create and choose League. Pick the club that is hosting if you run more than one.
Step 2
Lay out the season
Set how long the season runs and how often it meets. Each meeting becomes a game day on the calendar.
Step 3
Invite players
Share the league. Players join once and RSVP to each game day; the waitlist covers busy weeks.
Step 4
Run each night
Pick the night's format, generate the rounds, and let players enter scores at the net.
Step 5
Finish with a playoff
When the season ends, set up the playoff from the league table and crown a champion.
Formats
League night formats
Any format that keeps standings can run a league night, including Mixer, Musical Courts, Up & Down the River, Fixed-partner round robin, Singles round robin and King of the Court. Each has a plain-English explainer in the app. New to leagues? Start with the step-by-step league guide, or run a ladder league with players moving up and down courts.
Not ready for a season? A single round robin is a good trial run: print one with the free round robin generator.
Questions
- Is Pikel free for leagues?
- Yes. Pikel is a free app for iPhone and Android with no ads, for organizers and players alike.
- Can players join a league partway through the season?
- Yes. A player who joins later gets a row in the league table once a night they played is scored. They are listed without a placing until they have played the league's minimum number of nights.
- Can I run a ladder league in Pikel?
- Yes. Up & Down the River runs as a league night format: players move up and down courts on their own record each round, and the night's results add into the league table.
- Can I set up a league from a computer?
- League setup happens in the Pikel app. From a desktop browser at pikel.app/host you can set up a single game or weekly games.
- Do players need a rating to join?
- No. A league runs on wins, points and standings. Linking DUPR is optional, and Pikel keeps its own Pikel rating, which moves with the results of the games you play in Pikel.
