Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect
We collect the following information when you use the app:
- Account information: Name, email address, profile photo (optional)
- Usage data: Game participation, scores, club memberships
- Messages: Chat messages you send within clubs and games
- Device information: Device type, OS version, push notification tokens
- Analytics: Anonymous app usage patterns via Firebase Analytics (no advertising ID collected)
- Optional gender information: If you choose to play in a Mixed Madness game, you can tell us how you'd like to play (women's side, men's side, or either). This field is optional, visible only to organizers of games you join, and you can remove it at any time. We do not require gender to use the app.
2. How we use your information
- To provide and maintain the app's features
- To send push notifications about games, RSVPs, and messages
- To display your profile and game history to other club members
- To improve the app based on anonymous usage analytics
- To enable team pairing for Mixed Madness games, where gender or a "play as" preference is used to build balanced courts. This information is processed only for the duration of those games and is not used for advertising, profiling, or any decision other than court assignment.
3. Information sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Your data is shared only with:
- Other users: Your profile name, photo, and game participation are visible to members of clubs you join
- Service providers: Supabase (database/auth), Firebase (analytics), Apple (push notifications)
4. Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase with row-level security policies. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We do not store passwords directly -- authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with Apple Sign In and Google Sign In.
5. Your rights
- Access: You can view all your data within the app
- Deletion: You can delete your account from app settings, which removes all personal data
- Data export: You can export your data from Profile > Download My Data, or contact us
- Analytics opt-out: You can disable anonymous usage analytics from Profile > Privacy
- Withdraw gender information: If you previously provided a Mixed Madness playing preference, you can remove it any time from Profile > Privacy > Remove playing preference. Removing it cancels your RSVPs for any upcoming Mixed Madness games but leaves your past games and standings unchanged.
- Lawful basis (EEA, UK, Switzerland): Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your account information, game data, and messages on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) (performance of the contract you accept by using the app). Optional gender information is processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(a) consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the option above. Anonymous analytics relies on Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interest in improving the service, and you can opt out as described above. You can also contact support@pikel.app to exercise your rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or to object, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
- California residents: The California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete personal information, to correct inaccurate personal information, to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Gender information is considered "sensitive personal information" under the CPRA; we use it only for the limited purpose described in ยง2 and you can remove it any time. To exercise any of these rights, email support@pikel.app; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.
6. Data retention
Account data (name, email, profile photo, game history, messages) is retained for the lifetime of your account. When you delete your account through app settings, we initiate deletion of your personal data from our active systems. Deletion from active databases occurs promptly; residual copies in backups are purged within 90 days. Aggregated, de-identified analytics data (which cannot identify you) may be retained indefinitely to improve the service.
7. International data transfers
Your data is processed in the United States by our service providers, including Supabase (database and authentication), Google/Firebase (analytics), and Apple (push notifications). For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, these transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, and by our service providers' data processing agreements. 8. Children's Privacy and the 13+ Age Requirement
Pikel is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13. By creating an account or using the app, you confirm
you are at least 13 years old, as required by our Terms of Service.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 has provided personal
information to us, please contact us at support@pikel.app.
Upon verification, we will delete the account and all associated personal information in
accordance with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the General Data
Protection Regulation (GDPR), and any other applicable laws.
For users between 13 and the age of majority in their jurisdiction, we recommend that a
parent or guardian review our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service together with the user
before account creation.
9. IDFA and tracking
We do not collect the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA). We do not track users across other apps or websites. No App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown because we do not perform tracking.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
