Questions
- How do you run a round robin for 8 players on 2 courts?
- Use the schedule on this page. Each round every court is full and nobody sits out, and no one partners the same player twice. After 7 rounds, each player plays 7 games. Call the next round when the last court finishes.
- How many rounds should 8 players play?
- 7 rounds is where this schedule comes out even: each player plays 7 games, and everyone partners everyone once. For a shorter or longer session, change the rounds in the round robin generator.
- How long does a 8-player round robin take?
- A recreational doubles game to 11 usually takes 15 to 20 minutes, so 7 rounds run about 105 minutes to 2½ hours, plus a minute or two between rounds. Games to 15 run longer.
- What if one player doesn't show up?
- Switch to the 7-player, 1 court schedule on this site, which is dealt for that group size.
- Who wins a round robin?
- Most groups count games won and break ties on point differential: points scored minus points allowed. In the Pikel app, standings rank players by win percentage, with point differential per game breaking ties, and update as scores go in.
- Can I print it with player names?
- Yes. Type names in the Player names box, one per line or comma separated, and they replace the player numbers. Then print it, or pick Save as PDF in the print dialog. Names stay in your browser.
