Money & Ratings

Collect entry fees with Stripe and get rated on DUPR.

How do players pay an entry fee in Pikel?

Two ways, your choice per event: online at registration through Stripe checkout, or in person with pay-at-check-in, where the app tracks who still owes so you can collect at the door.

Do I need a Stripe account to charge entry fees?

To collect payments online, yes — you onboard with Stripe from Profile → Payouts, which is how the money reaches your bank. If you'd rather collect cash or Venmo in person, use pay-at-check-in instead and skip online payouts entirely.

Can I offer discounts or promo codes?

Yes. Create promo codes for your event and players enter them at checkout to get the discount — useful for early-bird pricing, members-only rates, or comping a volunteer.

Can I charge for a casual round robin?

No — entry fees attach to tournaments and competitions, not casual games. If you want to collect money, create a competition with an entry fee. A regular round robin stays free to join.

What does DUPR stand for?

DUPR is the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating — a single rating that measures how well you actually play, calculated from real match results rather than a self-assessment.

What's a good DUPR rating?

DUPR runs on a scale from 2.0 to 8.0. Most recreational players sit between 3.0 and 4.5. New players often start around 2.5 to 3.0. The number matters less than playing people close to your level — that's what makes games competitive.

Is DUPR free?

Yes, creating a DUPR account is free. You play rated matches, they get reported, and your rating updates. Pikel links to your DUPR account so scores from rated games sync with one tap.

How do I raise my DUPR rating?

Play rated matches and win against players at or above your level. DUPR weighs who you beat and by how much, and it counts both doubles and singles. One-tap DUPR sync in Pikel keeps your rating current after every match.

How do I get paid with Stripe payouts?

Set up your payout account by onboarding with Stripe from Profile → Payouts — that connects the account your entry fees would settle to, and you never type bank details into Pikel (Stripe collects them). Online entry-fee collection through Stripe is rolling out; if you'd rather take cash at the door, use pay-at-check-in, which tracks who's paid with no online setup at all.

How do I submit scores to DUPR?

Submitting scores to DUPR happens from the game — both teams confirm the result, then the score submits, and a failed submission retries on its own. DUPR games are doubles, so for a result to count, the club and all four players in the match each need their own DUPR account linked.
